Best Practices from Mongolia
The Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation presents a documentary that highlights successful projects and programs implemented in Mongolia over the past two decades and outlines future plans. This documentary emphasizes the crucial role played by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation in Mongolia's development, showcasing tangible results and the lasting impact of these initiatives.
Over the last 20 years, numerous initiatives have been carried out in Mongolia focusing on sustainable natural resource management, food security, agriculture, mining, education, governance, culture, and social welfare. These initiatives have aimed to strengthen democracy, reduce poverty, and empower Mongolian citizens, significantly improving their livelihoods. By meticulously designing and implementing needs-based programs to enhance the quality of life for Mongolians, the SDC has collaborated with governmental and non-governmental organizations, as well as international organizations.
In these topics we have gained new insights:

Insights from our Activities in Agriculture
The project increased income for producers, expanded vegetable consumption, and enlarged the market share for Mongolian small-scale producers.

Insights from our Activities in Education
SDC extended its support to facilitate the process of sustainable development and shifting to fundamental reforms in the education sector to develop Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) in Mongolia. Whereas the first phase of the ESD project succeeded in introducing the concept and importance of ESD, the second phase concentrated on improving and strengthening of the understanding and practice of ESD for it to take root among the implementers at the national level and in the selected provinces. The overall goal of the project was to promote an environmentally, socially and economically responsible, equitable, and sustainable future for the people of Mongolia through Education for Sustainable Development.

Insights from our Activities in Governance
The Governance and Decentralisation Program was successful in achieving following intended effects: An enabling legislative environment for decentralisation is created through the adoption of the State Policy on Decentralisation that amended the Constitution and the revision of Law on Administrative and Territorial Units and Their Governance (LATUG). Comprehensive review of 352 effective laws and Law on Media Freedom improved the legislative environment. The GDP-introduced functional allocation methodology was effectively applied and mainstreamed at all government levels to advance administrative decentralisation in Mongolia. The digitalisation and de-concentration of services at the Municipality of Ulaanbaatar level, coupled with the digitalisation of the Local Development Fund (LDF), enhanced the sustainability of public services that respond to citizens' needs.
